Cricket Butler's Bike | Tour Divide 2011

Cricket Butler's bike and gear from the 2010 Tour Divide

Bike: Currently, I plan on riding a Carbon Trek Elite SuperFly 29er – BUT it just recently cracked – Trek sent me a new frame immediately, HOWEVER, I just ordered a Moots Titantium MootoX RSL hardtail with custom geometry to match the SuperFly – if I get it before Tour Divide Race I will use the Moots.

Wheel set: Edge Carbon Wheel set with DT Swiss 240 Hubs –  I use Tubes

Bike Bags

Handlebar bag: Carousel Design Works – Small

Seat bag: Carousel Design Works – Escape Pod – Medium

Frame bag: Carousel Design Works – Custom

Other bags: Carousel Design Works – 2 Small Fuel Cell Top Tube bags – one next to seat post to carry bike repair stuff and the other by stem to carry snacks. Also a small Arkel map case I use between aerobars to hold maps & small stuff I might need quickly.

Wearing a backpack? No backpack.  Stuff my jersey packets if needed.

Sleep kit

Sleeping bag: Marmot Plasma 15 – I sleep cold & know this – if I could carry a -15 bag I would 😉

Bivy/tent system: Marmot Alpinist – I modified it by adding a little mosquito netting.

Ground pad: None.

Lighting

Front light: I use one Fenix L2D light – runs off 2 AA – Super Bright and Excellent Run Time!!

Helmet light: I also use a small Knog Beetle LED on front of helmet to read maps at night.

Other light: No

Navigation

GPS: No GPS.

Bike computers: Cateye Strada Wireless

Bringing ACA maps? Yes!

Cue sheets? No Cue Sheets

Hydration

How do you plan to carry water? I carry a platypus water bladder in the frame pack to strictly carry water.  I also carry a small gatorade bottle in my back jersey pocket for electrolyte replacement drinks- it is easy to reach there and I use it only when I need it.

Bringing filter or pills? I use bleach to purify water.

What is your max capacity? 70 oz if water bladder is full and 20 oz if Gatorade bottle is full. I rarely go fully loaded.

hi , on your sleeping system..you would be a lot warmer with
insulation under your sleeping bag. i plan to use a 3/4 length
    Neoair pad. here is a
    link…http://www.moontrail.com/therm-a-rest-neoair-sm.php I used
to work for Western Mountaineering and sold lots of highend down
sleeping bags and they are all pretty worthless to keep you warm
without ground insulation. just my 2 cents. Cheers JC
