Stagecoach 400 Race | Getting Ready

Getting ready in Hemet for the big ride.

Getting ready in Hemet for the big ride.

OK, time to put all that riding I did in Mexico to good use. Early tomorrow morning, I’m starting an individual-time-trail (ITT) of the Stagecoach 400. I’m doing an ITT instead of heading out with the group start because it conflicts with my next race (the Arizona Trail Race 750).

This is the first of five bikepacking races that I plan to do this summer.

Stagecoach is a 365-mile loop. The route drops out of the mountains from Idyllwild, CA, and heads across the Anza-Borrego desert. Then, it climbs back into the mountains near Julian, drops to the coast along San Diego, and heads back inland to Idyllwild.

When I start tomorrow, the temperature is supposed to be just above freezing. Training in Mexico didn’t exactly prepare me for the cold…

You can check my progress on the map below. Yeehaw!

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Finished it this Friday. And, by the way, I have a the Motel 6 points/rewards card. đŸ˜‰

    Forest,

This should be like a walk in the park for you. But I agree with Tom that you are a badddd man.

    Good luck!
    Doug

Not Forest’s first time in a motel 6 in Hemet. I’ll leave it at that

Ride baby ride! Remember, you can always sleep on the drive home. I’m sure you’re killing it with those fancy pants aero-bars. Good luck from us,
    Erik and Lindsey
